Summary: This data visualization project compiles data from multiple regions in Palestine and spans 20 years. The results are sobering and demonstrate the hard evidence of the abuse of Palestinian youth by the Israeli government and Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The focus of this project was to investigate and communicate how many children are being unlawfully detained and the conditions surrounding detention. What we discovered include gross oversight of laws as they should pertain to citizens as well as laws that pertain to minors. In addition, the children who are detained suffer under abusive tactics including physical harm, transport on the metal floor of a vehicle, and being hooded. Many are also denied the right to know why they’ve been arrested and often their parents are not consulted or informed in the process.
